Hi All. Well I’m now back from a brilliant weekend in Bright, Victoria.

This is the outdoor mecca of Australia, you can cycle up (and down mountains), run up (and down) the same mountains, walk up (and down) the same mountains but also rest assured plenty of lovely flatter walks that don’t involve so much vertical. Nestled in the hub of the Australian Alps, I love this town. It’s also a great base for the winter sports, it also has a great Brewery Bar perfectly located next to the river, with lovely cafes, restaurants, local food markets and wineries, what more does one need?

The Tour De Bright cycle weekend was in full force, 3 days of tough cycle races so there was a buzz about town with plenty of bike-eye candy on offer. Not cycling myself, Day 1 I jogged and walked the creek trail from Bright to neighbouring town of Wandiligong, and learned the history of gold mining…a cracking little trail to walk or run along. Day 2 I ventured up Mount Buffalo, just 10 mins drive outside Bright, parking at Eurobin Picnic area, the 11km trail starts here. The best part is the variety of vegetation and landscape as you head up and the views, well they speak for themselves – incredible. It’s also possible to park at the 5km mark and start your ascent here – not a bad idea at all if you don’t feel like doing the full trail.

Bright is now renowned for several adventure races – Buffalo Stampede, Alpine Classic, MTB races, Tour de Bright. For those not so inclined on the sports pursuits there are plenty of other attractions – markets, food markets, wineries, historic museums, it’s a place you will fall in love with.
